Can't reach us...? It's cause we're doing stuff like this. (Hey, we get to have some fun too!)
6.5 Grendel Build
The six fives are the fastest growing caliber out there. In the last few years we've seen the popularity of the 26 Nosler and 6.5 Creedmoor take off like, well, a shot. This year Weatherby came out with their 6.5-300 Weatherby Mag. While sending 6.5 pill down a barrel at 3,500 fps sounds fun, replacing a barrel every 600 shots does not. People like to shoot. So We're going the other direction with our newest 6.5 build, small and efficient. The 6.5 Grendel is capable of sending a 123-129 projectile supersonic beyond 1,100 yards. Hornady's SST projectile can offer 1000 ft/lbs out to 400 yards. Living in Southeast Georgia, that plenty to kill a deer from any of my stands. Couple this with almost imperceptible recoil and near-immortal barrel life, this may become your next favorite gun.
6.5-06 Ackley - Fast but not quite so Furious!
The super-fast 6.5mm cartridges have made their way into the mainstream hunting conversation as of late. The 26 Nosler arrived in 2013 and was hailed as the flattest shooting cartridge ever. This, obviously, comes at a price. To get the extreme velocity of 3,200 fps+ from heavy for caliber, 140 grain pills, the 26 can use up to 88gr of powder. This is over 35% more powder than the 6.5-06 Ack uses to produce only slightly slower results. This results is a significant increase in barrel life by using the hyper-efficient Ackley cartridge over the brute strength of the Nosler cartridge.
